5 Tips for Taking Care of Tile Floors

Almost everyone is concerned with making his or her home look presentable and clean. That’s why it’s good to know the best ways to make your carpet, windows, bathrooms, and tile floors look as clean as possible. It’s important to know how to properly clean your floor to prevent having to replace it often.  If you have tile floors, then consider the following tips to keep your tile floor looking like new.

1. Clean Immediately

Everyone is going to spill on occasion. It’s what you do after the spill that’s important. Don’t wait around to clean it up. Immediately wipe up spills and remove sticky spots from your tile or carpet floors. Waiting around will only make it harder to remove the stain.

2. Use Rugs & Mats

Place rugs or mats in specific places around your home, especially if there are locations that are prone to spills and dirt. Dirt-catching mats are ideal in front of doors, sinks, and other areas that get a lot of foot traffic.

3. Cover Furniture Legs

Use felt or plastic tips on the legs of your furniture that come in contact with your tile or carpet flooring. These protective coatings will reduce scratches on your tile and indentations in you affordable carpet.

4. Clean Regularly

Don’t wait until your floor is filthy to clean. Use a soft dust mop or bristled broom to clean your floor everyday.

5. Mop

Use a damp mop on your tile floor when needed. Do not soak the mop or soak the floor. Excess water will soak into your grout and make your floor look worse. Only use floor-cleaning solutions when your floor is really dirty, but make sure the product is safe for your floor type.
