Touring the Laminate Flooring Installation Process

Removing carpeting from your home and installing laminate flooring is a lot less difficult than you may think. In less than a day, you can complete laminate flooring installation and change the look and feel of an entire room in your home. Laminate flooring is not ideal for bathrooms and laundry rooms, because it is susceptible to warping and buckling when it comes into frequent contact with moisture. However, you can have a flooring contractor in Queens install it in any other room. Here are the steps that need to be taken to install laminate flooring.

Step 1: Remove carpeting, carpet padding, tack strips, and baseboard and clean your subfloor.

Before you begin your flooring installation, you will need to get rid of your old carpeting. Use a utility knife to cut it into strips before removing it, and tear up the carpet padding and tack strips before prying the baseboards off. Then, clean up any leftover debris and make sure that your subfloor is level. This will ensure that your laminate flooring installation goes smoothly.

Step 2: Acclimate your laminate flooring to your room, install the underlayment, and begin laying down your new floors.

Prior to beginning your laminate flooring installation, you should let the flooring sit in your room for a few days. From there, you should tape down the underlayment that will sit between your subfloor and your new flooring, decide which way you want to lay your flooring, and then lay the first piece. After that’s done, most laminate flooring will snap together and go down easily.

Step 3: Complete all of the finishing touches to make your flooring look great.

As you lay down your new flooring, you should be sure that it tucks underneath doorways properly and that no large gaps exist between your floors and the walls. You should also install baseboards and shoe molding to finish the process.
