Tile can transform any room in your home. From dynamic natural stone like granite, travertine or slate to the elegance of ceramic and porcelain, tile adds character and charm. There are many types of tile. Porcelain is a ceramic tile that is generally made by the dust pressed method from a composition which results in a tile that is dense, impervious, fine grained and smooth, with a sharply formed face. Whereas Quarry tile is a glazed or unglazed tile made by the extrusion process from natural clay or shale. This tile is most common in the dark red shades; however, shades of brown and gray are also available. Let us at Bay Carpet help you chose which tile is right for your home.
COMMERCIAL SHEET GOODS & LINOLEUM
Why linoleum floors?
- Sustainability – If you’re seeking a durable, high-quality, eco-friendly flooring option, linoleum floors should be at the top of your list. Made from natural and renewable raw materials and recycled content, linoleum is fully biodegradable. After a lifespan of 30+ years, linoleum flooring can be scrapped without environmental concern. It can even be incinerated to create thermal energy that exceeds the energy used at initial production.
- Durability – With proper care, linoleum floors can last for decades. Their construction lends to colorfastness, unlike materials in which colors and patterns are printed on the surface. Its protective layers prevent scratches and scuffs, making it well-suited to high-traffic areas and homes with pets and children. If scratched, you’ll be able to buff and refinish easily, due to the colors and patterns running through the full thickness. Linoleum is both water and heat resistant, making it a great choice for bathrooms, kitchens, and even entranceways.
- Low maintenance – Linoleum is naturally resistant to bacteria and fungus, and has the added bonus of being hypoallergenic. This helps to contribute to its low maintenance status, as basic sweeping and mopping are all your linoleum floor will need—aside from a waxing every few years to prevent yellowing.
- Flexible and affordable – With over 300 colors and 12 design structures in both sheet and tile formats, you can rest assured you’ll find the right fit for your linoleum floor installation. Click-and-lock linoleum is available in planks and tiles, making it an excellent choice for floating floors. Large spaces will benefit from sheet or tile flooring, which comes in a variety of colors and styles and is less costly than traditional ceramic or porcelain materials
VCT is the most cost effective hard surface flooring you can buy for your space. It features easy installation and high durability. It comes in 12 x 12 size and is very popular for commercial spaces. It has high impact resistance and can be installed with many different color coordinations and patterns. Vinyl composition tile has a very long life expectancy.
Hardwood flooring is one of the favorite choices of many consumers today. It affords all the natural looks and solid feel under foot. People love that it can be installed with custom staining and refinishing — or it can be purchased prefinished in many plank sizes and colors. Natural wood floors do need some maintenance unlike simulated vinyl wood looking floors over time.
Is laminate right for you?
With so many flooring options available, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of each in relation to how they will be used. For instance, when it comes to laminate vs. luxury vinyl, both offer a wide range of colors and styles through 3D printing. Luxury vinyl is 100% waterproof and tends to have a much longer lifespan at a lower price point, but laminate tile flooring installation, though more prone to moisture damage, requires no adhesives and makes it a great choice for a quick and effortless installation.
Both hardwood and laminate flooring provide a natural appearance and warmth, along with a timeless look. Hardwood can add considerable value to your home and is fairly easy to repair, but is more costly in both time and money for materials and installation than is laminate. Laminate is more resistant to wear and tear and comes at a lower price point, but is often more difficult to repair.

A member of the beech family, the cork oak tree grows in costal regions of the Mediterranean. Unlike most trees where primary value is derived from the lumber of the trunk, cork is actually obtained from the bark. Cork provides a comfortable cushion underfoot as it gives under compression. Because cork “bounces back”, recovery from marks left by furniture will leave mnimal residual indentation, less notibeable than on wood, carpet or vinyl floors. Cork is a fire inhibitor that does not spread flame. Cork contgains over 100 million prism-shaped cells per cubic inch. These air-filled cells allow cork to provide excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. What does cork have to offer setting it apart from other surface flooring materials? Quite a bit turns out. In fact, no other floor covering can match the combined benefits of cork.
